Staff Accountant
American Cruise Lines is seeking a talented Staff Accountant to join our team. American Cruise Lines is the world’s leading small ship cruise line with 17 vessels that travel throughout the country. Our rapidly growing fleet currently travels through the East Coast, Mississippi River, the Pacific Northwest, and Alaska. You will be working alongside a dedicated and loyal accounting team based out of our Guilford, CT office.
Responsibilities:
- Fixed asset processing and reporting, ensuring compliance with internal capitalization policies.
- Prepare and record deposits. Reconciliation of cash receipts to the GL, follow up on discrepancies.
- Assist accounts payables team with approvals and documentation review.
- Perform credit card reconciliations, gathering necessary information from cardholders in order to properly post transactions to GL.
- Record various journal entries ensuring appropriate documentation and approvals are maintained.
- Reconcile accounts to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Assist with audits and taxes as needed. Prepare documentation for external auditors.
- Assist Controller and Treasurer with various tasks as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting.
- Strong communications skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Accuracy in daily work and other projects.
- Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
- Adherence to policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Experience with paperless requisition system preferred.
- Experience with Great Plains preferred.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Public Accounting experience preferred.
