We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit housing arena. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field of study preferred, but an Associate's degree will also be considered. Recent grads are welcome to apply. ```Responsibilities```
Responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the accounting function; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.
Essential Duties
1. Performs a variety of duties to support the accounting function of which the following are illustrative:
a. Assists with maintaining journals and ledgers.
b. Assists with preparing financial reports and analyses, budgets, rent increases, payroll, tax returns, escrow account requisition, subsidy vouchers, and other forms required by regulatory agencies and external auditors.
c. Assists with the accounts payable function.
d. Assists with payroll, tax reports, and financial reports.
e. Updates and reviews daily cash balances.
f. Conducts internal audits at projects.
g. Conducts security deposit audits.
h. Prepares all escrow and reserve analysis.
2. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
3. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate organization personnel.
4. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other organization personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
5. Abides by the current laws and IDA’s policies and procedures designed to pro- mote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
6. Abides by IDA’s internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and regulatory requirements.
