The stated pay range is based on a national-average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is bonus eligible.

CNO Financial Group is hiring a Sr. Worksite Underwriter to evaluate risk of applicants for life, health and/or group insurance. This individual will need to communicate, in verbal and written forms, risk selection, products, and services. The Sr. Worksite Underwriter is responsible for more complex cases and with a higher authority limit.

This is your opportunity to mentor more junior underwriters and to take on project assignments in addition to individual case load.

As aSr. Worksite Underwriter,your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating, within established company underwriting guidelines and philosophy, applications for multiple lines and types of business for life, health and/or group insurance.
  • Orchestrating process improvements to ensure the optimal operation of the business.
  • Being responsible for the risk decision of new and existing business for all life and health policies within delegated authority levels and company guidelines.
  • Maintaining an awareness of changing practices and regulations.
  • Effectively partnering with co-workers and agents to create a high-performing organization.
  • Handling escalated issues related to risk.
  • Auditing cases related to risk.
  • Providing co-signature above designated approval limits for other underwriters.
  • Working with business partners to analyze existing processes and identify areas of improvement

TheSr. Worksite Underwriterpositionis well-suited for you if you:

  • Possess thorough knowledge of life, health and/or group products.
  • Are proficient in underwriting all life and/or health products.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of regulatory and policy difference among states in which business is transacted.
  • Have experience interpreting inspection reports, MVRs, medical records and other types of information as it applies to the selection of risk.
  • Ability to view underwriting holistically, aside from just individual production, and make specific recommendations for change on underwriting guidelines, processes, or industry standards.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree or eight years of experience as equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in a production-oriented environment

What will set you apart:

  • Working towards certifications
  • 5 years of experience in a production-oriented environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and insurance regulations
  • Willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours

Associates who live outside of a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Orlando and Milwaukee) may perform this role full-time work from home (WFH) from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.

All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
