Statement of Purposes: The Chief Marketing Officer will support the CEO and Executive Board in CAN's Strategic Plan in line with the essential duties outlined below. CAN has grown substantially in the past 5-8 years; this role is intended for someone both excited and willing to build up the marketing department in both strategy and policies/procedures. An individual with proven and prior leadership success with a national non-profit space and/or related industry and working transversally across states on creative and capital campaigns is ideal. This includes understanding and executing the complexities of cross-functional/multi-location organization as a marketing subject matter expert (SME).

The Chief Marketing Officer will lead a team of professionals responsible for creative design, donor development, and traditional marketing realms at CAN Community Health and its subsidiaries: Midland Medical and Mail-Meds/Tampa Family Pharmacy. The main format of the essential duties below would be oversight.

Essential Duties:

1.Digital Marketing – Evaluate and execute a digital marketing campaign in line with CAN's 2025 strategic plan and updated trends in search engine optimization (SEO) and artificial intelligence (AI).

2.Print and Product Marketing – Evaluate and execute print/product marketing needs on a regular basis, inclusive of CAN's incentive collateral strategy, development and execution (i.e., purchasing and inventory of SWAG for clinics and mobile units).

3.Creative Design and Development – Lead a team of employees and contractors in creative design, with preferable experience in web design and other related modalities. Experience cross-functionally across many design platforms.

4.Communications – Oversee and implement long-term and urgent communication needs across platforms.

5. Donor Development - Identify and implement new revenue streams with individual, group, and corporate social responsibility donor opportunities immediately inclusive of the onboarding and implementation of a new donor development software.

6. Capital Campaigns - Work closely with the c-suite (CEO, CFO, COO) to develop and implement a capital campaign within the first 2-3 years.

7. Vendor Management – Evaluate and manage CAN's ~100 vendors inclusive of contracting, managing, monitoring and evaluating vendors' progress and vendor request for proposals (RFPs).

8. Development – Advance current internal/external evaluation tools on CAN's marketing presence and return on investment (ROI).

9. Event Leadership – Manage CAN's event staff and priorities inclusive of 70+ external community sponsorships with a fund of $500K per year; 2 event spaces for rent; and, CAN-led fundraisers/campaigns, as deemed appropriate.

10. Project Management – Improve and advance Marketing's project management modalities and performance based upon timeliness, quality of product, and prioritization of key strategic items. Including the early implementation of a new project management tool.

11. Team Oversight – Recruit, retain, and/or manage Marketing and Communications staff, inclusive of ongoing evaluation and presentation of staff and team needs. Inspire and promote cross-functional and departmental practices as aligned with a multitude of marketing initiatives.

12. Executive Function – Act as a member of CAN's leadership team; responsible for the strategic budget, direction, and oversight of Marketing and Communications. Engage in regular weekly, monthly, and annual meetings/commitments relative to senior leadership as well as cross-functional priorities as deemed appropriate.

13. Industry Knowledge/Execution – Engage in regular professional development/capacity building to ensure CAN is ahead on industry trends within both the infectious disease/public health and non-profit spaces. Prior work in the industry (i.e., healthcare and/or AIDS Service Organizations) a plus.

14. All - Evaluate and drive the use of new technology funding vehicles including social media and E-giving, revamping the organizations website and online tools for supporters.

Board and Senior Leadership:

1. Work closely with the Executive Team to lead the creation and implementation of an advancement strategy in line with the strategic plan.

2. Engage in board meetings and report on development activities as needed.

3. Serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization and articulate our mission to external constituents as a public relations professional.

4. Collaborate with CFO to develop and produce regular analytic reports for senior management that synthesize the financial progress and trends of fundraising activities.

5. Personally, and through leadership, conduct major gift solicitations.

Internal Management and Infrastructure:

1. Recruit, train, manage and mentor development staff. Continually review departmental infrastructure to ensure support of the organization's revenue growth goals.

2. Effectively manage the development's day-to-day operations, budget and income forecasts.

3. Oversee special events staff in planning, while critically evaluating return on investments.

4. Focus on the communications to ensure consistent messaging and branding in all print and online donor communication vehicles.

5. Provide strategic and marketing oversight to all donor materials, and strategic support on the full range of external stakeholder communications.

6. Develop clear processes and collaborate with all other departments within the organization to create an understanding of and appreciation for the development function. Foster an environment of cohesiveness and collaboration.

Requirements:

Physical Demands:

1. Neat, professional appearance

2. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly in lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

3. Requires expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word, visual and auditory acuity.

4. Moderate to frequent travel, inclusive out of state, may be required and/or preferred for the role.


Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 15 years of directly related experience, preferably in a marketing/development department of a nonprofit or similar industry.

2. Past and proven public relations leadership experience representing an organization to external audiences.

3. Experience with staff management, engagement and development

4. Demonstrated fundraising success upwards of $10-15 million for a variety of fundraising streams and inclusive of large major gifts.

5. Experience developing, managing, and executing capital campaigns.

6. Exceptional communication and influencing skills; persuasive, credible and polished communicator both written and verbal.

7. Creative, independent and strategic thinker – CAN thought leader.

8. Very Strong strategic planning and project and budget management skills.

9. Excellent computer skills, including database management.

10. Self-starter with a proven ability to meet and complete multiple tasks with solid deadlines.
