Position Summary:
The Technology Center Release Group is looking for an individual to assume a support role in operating the electron beam pilot coater. Serving as the 2nd Hand operator of the coating line, this individual's responsibilities include coating makeup, assisting with the execution of trials, coordinating proper sampling for testing, performing routine maintenance of the pilot coater and associated equipment, and training to be the backup lead operator of No. 50 Coater.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Complies with all safety, hygiene, and environmental management systems to ensure a safe, wholesome, and sustainable workplace. Commits to learn and follow Lab Safety procedures and policies and perform work in a safe, reliable, and precise manner.
  • Responsible for the set-up and operation of all Color Room coating equipment used on No. 50 Coater to provide accurate coating batches for pilot trials.
  • Assists with machine setup including base roll changes and threading the coater.
  • Responsible for coating delivery during pilot coater trials.

Essential Job Functions :
  • Conducts routine maintenance on the pilot coater and performs mechanical changes including Engraved roll and Gravure roll changes.
  • Responsible for restocking operating supplies for the pilot coater.
  • Works effectively in a team environment and as an individual contributor.

Special Skills Required:
  • Proficiency in use of computers and computer applications.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing safety and ability to demonstrate safety leadership.
  • Capability to learn to operate various types of pilot coater process-related equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with various types of equipment or systems.
  • Comfortability using hand tools and power tools. Strong mechanical skills a plus.
  • Willingness to train and certify to operate a fork truck and transporter.
  • Adaptability to changing business needs while effectively maintaining daily workflow.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and general guidelines.
  • Effective interactions with all levels of the Technology Center organization.
  • Experience with coating operations and/or electrical background is preferred
    High School Education, Advanced Degree Preferred
