Job Description
THE ROLE:
Senior Technical writer, collaborating with computer architects, designers, firmware developers, and compiler engineers, at multiple sites to develop excellent, multi-format, documentation.
THE PERSON:
Self-motivated individual with strong technical writing and problem-solving skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create documentation plan and schedules based on program requirements.
- Produces accurate and concise technical content by leveraging knowledge of technical writing principles, resources, and advanced tools.
- Expertise in writing and/or editing original and highly technical user documentation, resulting in polished and professional final documentation packages for internal and/or external advanced engineering customers. Examples may include hardware specifications, programming guides, etc.
- Establish process for document labels/tags and observe and improve tag usage.
- Conduct periodic talks on how to write good documentation, with focus on advanced English skills for individuals where English is not their first language.
- Manages multiple versions of documents, tracking and integrating changes, applying confidentiality tags to generate versions of documents for different audiences, etc.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of experience writing and editing hardware or software documentation and content.
- Solid understanding of Perforce, GitHub or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of markup languages such as Markdown, Quarto, Asciidoc, XML, etc.
- Experience with Acrolinx, Grammarly, or similar tools.
- Script programming experience in Python, Perl, PowerShell, or .bat or similar experience in automating document changes, document management.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Communications, English, or related field
