PURPOSE:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading both design and development of control software applications for high precision manufacturing tools, working individually and in teams. The Sr. StaffSoftware Engineer will be expected to stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in the field of automation and software development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and Implement Control Software Systems: Create robust control software for automated sorting, assembly, and inspection systems.
- Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers: Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to create reliable solutions tailored for high-volume manufacturing.
- Integrate equipment with manufacturing software systems.
- Software Development Life Cycle Ownership: Plan, manage, and oversee software releases throughout the development life cycle.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Education and Experience:
- BS/M.S. degree in computer science or engineering is required.
- Demonstrated expertise with over 15 years of software development.
- Software Development Skills:
- Proven experience in designing and hands-on development of large multi-threaded/multi-tasking software systems.
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in C++ and C#.
- Operating Systems: Experienced with Windows and Unix development environments.
- Machine vision Expertise. Experience with packages like Cognex VisionPro or OpenCV.
- Experience programming for motion control and data acquisition systems.
- Database Skills: Experience with MS SQL Server or MySQL.
- User Experience (UX) Design: Familiarity with UX design principles and hands-on experience
- Quality and Communication:
- Passion for Quality: Committed to creating high-availability and reliable software systems with experience in use of SPC and Root cause analysis (RCA).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical information and project updates.
The pay range for this role in Livermore, California is between $163,400 and $214,410. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
