Position Summary:
Supports the Assistant Controller and Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. Maintains and audits assigned general ledger accounts. Prepares month end financial closing entries. Verifies and audits key accounting documentation. Ensures compliance with internal controls. May supervise accounting staff. Resolves discrepancies in accounting records. Assist in Bank Reconciliation Department. Oversee the AR technology growth and prepare revenue reports for General Managers.
Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a clear concise manner, both orally and in writing.
2. Prior accounting experience, preferably 4 - 6 years or equivalent college education preferred.
3. Proficient in the use of accounting software, computer and business software, and excel.
4. Knowledgeable regarding accounting terminology and standards.
5. Good analytical and problem solving skills, especially regarding financial data.
6. Strong organizational skills.
7. Demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts.
8. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
9. Demonstrated ability to keep financial information and company plans confidential at all times.
10. Ability to lead, coach, train, develop and motivate employees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Support the Accounting Department by handling various financial responsibilities, such as account balancing, verification, reconciliations, etc., as assigned. Advocate for accurate and timely reporting of financial records.
2. Handle all needed discussions and problem solving with individuals and institutions necessary to complete monthly reconciliations.
3. Maintain assigned general ledger accounts, handling all related duties. Ensure timeliness and accuracy.
4. Prepare month-end financial closing entries for general ledger accounts.
5. Verify and audit key accounting documentation.
6. Ensure compliance with internal controls at all times and follow standard accounting operating procedures.
7. Assist with physical inventories and cycle counts.
8. May supervise accounting staff. Perform regular and timely Performance Evaluation discussions and documentation with members of team and promote team environment while providing individual growth opportunities.
9. Foster a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
10. Ensure that all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner.
11. Protect operations by keeping financial information and company plans confidential.
12. Keep Assistant Controller apprised of all issues and concerns.
13. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
2. Valid Drivers License with clean driving record preferred.
3. High School Diploma or GED.
4. 4-6years accounting experience or equivalent college education. Associates' Degree in Accounting/Finance, Bachelors Degree preferred.
5. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
