Come join the Applied Machine Learning team to do your best work on exciting and groundbreaking projects that will surprise and delight our users. Apple’s Applied Machine Learning team is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer to join the team building AI and ML models and applications serving an inference platform. To support Apple scale we work with tens of terabytes of data and thousands of concurrent requests. In this role, you will get exposure to the intersection of Software Engineering, ML and AI, MLOps, and cloud-native development.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience building high-scale and availability back-end and cloud-native applications and systems
- Expert knowledge of at least two languages from the list: Java/Scala, Go, Rust, C/C++, Python
- Extensive experience designing distributed applications architecture and implementing it in code heavily relying on distributed messaging, storage, and compute
- Hands-on experience with multiple relational, NoSQL, graph, vector databases, file systems, and other data sources (e.g. Mongo, Cassandra, Kafka, Solr, etc)
- In-depth knowledge of cloud-native development, Kubernetes, and custom operators development
- Experience building platforms, multi-tenant systems, or AI/ML systems used by others. Experience developing frameworks, libraries or SDKs is a plus.
- Strong understanding and experience with development lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, different types of automation testing, logging, monitoring and alerting, and production debugging
- Strong collaboration skills, system thinking, and ability to clearly explain complex concepts
DESCRIPTION
In this role, you will apply all of your knowledge, experience, talent, and creativity to help us build the next generation of our platform enabling a new wave of AI and ML-powered applications across hundreds of teams and thousands of models. You will drive, design, and implement new features making sure the platform can satisfy the ever-growing demand for AI models serving and stay on top of the faster-than-ever ML space developments and incorporate those into the platform. You will work closely with ML engineers and data scientists to make sure they can utilize the platform as efficiently as possible and get all the features they need, infrastructure and DevOps engineers making sure the platform can scale and reliably serve every customer, and many teams at Apple using the platform to instrument and incorporate ML and AI into the core of their products. Additionally, you will help shape the future and the roadmap of our platform, drive strong engineering excellence and culture, and see the effect of your work on Apple customers.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
