The Crown Publishing Group is seeking at Senior Publicist or Publicity Manager for the Clarkson Potter and Ten Speed Press imprints. Reporting to the Associate Director of Publicity, this position provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in a creative and collaborative environment. Clarkson Potter and Ten Speed Press publish such notable authors as Ina Garten, Alison Roman, Yotam Ottolenghi, Toni Tipton Martin, Rick Martinez, Amber Lewis, Bryant Terry, Dolly Parton, Jimmy Chin, Matika Wilbur, Ariana Madix, Hawa Hassan, Matty Matheson, Shira Gill and Rebel Girls.
We are looking for an experienced, thoughtful, creative, and team-focused candidate who will work on cookbooks and lifestyle books in the pop culture, design, photography, and gardening categories.
The ideal candidate has expertise in the lifestyle and culinary media landscape with strong media contacts and brand management experience. Prompt, courteous, and thorough communication skills are essential, as the right candidate will be helping to establish and nurture long-running partner relationships that span multiple books over multiple imprints. Candidates should possess well developed time management skills and be able work independently and collaboratively. In addition to managing media relationships, this highly collaborative job requires constant internal and external information sharing and a willingness to consistently prioritize the needs of the team, our partners, and authors.
This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities which include attendance at in-person meetings with authors and agents, staffing of author events, and accompanying authors to media engagements. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT, & PA).
Specific responsibilities include:

  • Planning and execution of publicity campaigns across lists each season
  • High-touch author care and attentive communication with authors and agents
  • Developing, researching, and maintaining strong relationships
  • Attending and presenting at regular sales and publishing meetings

The ideal candidate should have:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in public relations or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience presenting in front of large groups
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set priorities while managing multiple projects
  • Ability to work seamlessly in a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suit

The salary range for the Sr. Publicist level is $70,000-$72,000, and the salary range for the Publicity Manager level is $73,000-$76,000. To be considered at the higher level, candidates must have 6+ years of experience. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
