The Sr. Plant Engineer II provides engineering technical support and troubleshooting for plant utilities and facilities. Systems supported include Clean Utilities (Clean Room HVAC, GMP Water, Gases) and Plant Utilities (Chilled water, HVAC, Plant Steam, Compressed Air, etc.). Leads or participates in design, specification, installation, commissioning and qualification of new equipment including URS and protocol writing and executions. This role partners with other teams including Utilities, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Maintenance and others to measure, target and improve reliability of all assets. Role also requires use of the Computerized Building Management System for troubleshooting and improvements.
What you'll do
- Provide plant support coordination for tie-in and startup activities: Coordinate between project and plant teams to facilitate tie-in and startup of project utilities and equipment. Develop detailed tie-in plans for utilities including but not limited to Chilled Water, Steam, Electrical Utility Panels, Clean steam, etc. ensuring the existing facility is not adversely affected by the project activities.
- Execute mechanical completion walkdowns and facilitate system turnover with construction: Perform drawing walkdowns during the construction process to ensure there are no errors or changes that will result in delay in system turnover. Ensure each system has been constructed according to Biogen's design requirements.
- Provide plant support for commissioning, qualification, validation activities: Review and approve of commissioning test plans and IC/FC/OC protocols, including but not limited to safety walkdowns, drawing walkdowns, slope checks, component verification, and operational or performance testing. Perform ETOP review, including as-built drawing walkdowns during project turnover, weld log review and approval, passivation, HEPA Certifications, and other activities as required to complete ETOP documentation.
- Engineering Documentation: Develop and maintain site documentation as required to facilitate Project Turnover such as User Requirement Specifications (URS), followed by development of Procedures (SOP's) and FORMS to facilitate operation and maintenance of the project equipment.

- BS in Engineering or related discipline + 7 years of transferrable experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with Clean Utilities or Plant Utilities, HVAC.
- Practical knowledge of the application of FDA GMP and EMA regulations.
- Competency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point MS Sharepoint MS Project and AutoCad.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- May be asked to work extended shifts or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical infrastructure experience preferred.
- Experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Validation experience.
