Sr. Mep Elevator Inspector (Construction)

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Sr. MEP Inspector - Vertical Transportation (Elevators and Escalators) for our Client's Jersey City, NJ office. Your Impact

• Review project drawings, submittals and inspect delivered materials.
• Keep track of work in place totals for all items of work including contract work, unit price work, extra work, and time and material work on a daily basis and prepare notifications and estimates for change orders when extra work is identified.
• Advise staff of potential overruns and communicate the need for additional funds if needed.
• Inspect installation of equipment, assist EIC with coordination of Commissioning requirements coordination of MEP
• installations with General construction and overall management of various projects across the PANYNJ facilities.
• Review contractor payment requests for accuracy, ensure that all accompanying back up is included (as required by PA/CMD guidelines) and recommend reasonableness to the EIC for payment.
• Provide updates and review project schedules for accuracy and completeness and for potential impacts to cost or baseline schedule. Draft reports as required.
• Coordinate with the facility for staging, hours of work, and shutdowns.
• Review plans for constructability and prepare comments.
• Provide assistance to PANYNJ Project Manager, RE as directed
• Manage, focus on mechanical components for various contractors
• Assist with additional multi trade projects with MEP components.
• Actively track, monitor, research validity and compliance with Contract documents for all work from inception to final closure.
• Inspection and commission of mechanical systems
• Communicate with Contractors and project team.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 9 years of experience in construction inspection of MEP trades and commissioning of Vertical Transpiration mechanical equipment involving multiple phases of large scale building/rehabilitation projects.
• Specific expertise in building Vertical Transpiration mechanical systems construction
• Minimum of 9 years shall be in the role of as superintendent on large scale multi contract, building projects.
• Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, verbal communication includes contract staff, Resident Engineer, facility staff and Safety personnel both in person and via two way communications.
• Proficient level of knowledge relative to all aspects of construction management and supervision.
• Trained in fall protection, work zone safety, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 10 hr. OSHA construction safety training.
• Ability to pass a SWAC Background Check at High Level
• Valid Driver's license required.
• Night and weekend shifts may be required.
• Proficient in basic computer skills utilizing Windows/Outlook/Word/Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Normal Work Hours M-F, but may be called after hours or on weekends for occasional emergency projects.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

Preferred Qualifications

• AS or Bachelor's Degree
• Knowledge of NYS Building Code
• Knowledge of NFPA standards

Expected Salary: $68,700- $117,920
