POSITION SUMMARY
Barton Malow Company is seeking a Sr Mechanic to join our Oak Park Yard Operations team. This position is responsible for repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment (more than 65 horsepower). The individual should have 10-15 years of relevant experience and hold either a CDL A or B license. This position also provides development and training to other mechanics and will require skills in electric repair, hydraulic repair, truck/trailer experience, steering and suspension, brakes, and engine performance.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Independently repairs and maintains large heavy equipment and engines without assistance
• Perform repairs on small equipment - concrete equipment repairs such as rider trowels, concrete saws, concrete vacuums, and walk-behinds
• Repair and perform prevantative maintenance on all small equipment and engines
• Perform minor repairs on gas and diesel engines (i.e. oil changes, etc.)
• Travel to field job sites for repairs on equipment and completes road calls
• Performs final quality inspections on repaired equipment and has knowledge of annual equipment inspections and DOT inspections
• Commits to their work schedule to reduce absenteeism on the team as well as maintains a clean work space

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a service shop or on construction equipment.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics.
• Ability to operate construction equipment.
• Ability to weld and fabricate equipment.
• Welding and burning ability preferred.
• Ability to work on hydraulic and air braking systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Basic understanding and diagnostic ability of diesel engines.
• Maintains current Chauffer's license
• Certifications or specific training on the following preferred:
  • Brakes (Hydraulic and Air)
  • Engine (Gas and Diesel)
  • Transmissions
  • Troubleshooting
  • Suspension
