Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager IT – Common Use Platform and Integration will lead a team focused on defining, building and executing in our Common Use Platforms. This role will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of Common Use Platforms across various systems and applications.

The individual will use groundbreaking technologies and enterprise grade integration software daily and will be relied upon to help take the team to the next level. This role demands a strong leader who can supervise budgets, work you're doing, and development metrics and resource planning. This position will collaborate extensively with other areas across UA Digital Technology, Field Services Delivery, and Airport Operations.

The ideal candidate will possess an analytic, innovative, and organizational background to enable strategic portfolio planning and management, including creating structure and mechanisms to supervise multiple initiatives and ensure prioritization discussions to ensure critical efforts are resourced and completed time.

The individual will experience a wide range of problem solving situations, strategic to real-time, requiring data collection, analysis and reporting.

This role will a proven focus on both implementing new enterprise technology needed to support the Common Use Vendor Platforms as well as partnering with enterprise teams to advance the technology ecosystem to support the new and existing applications.

Interface:

  • Understand and work with business partners to define the end-state vision, goals and strategy
  • Engage with collaborators to understand business requirements, content needs and user expectations
  • Collaborate closely with multi-functional teams, including software development, infrastructure, operations and business units to understand integration requirements, address challenges and deliver solutions

Delivery/Support:

  • Evaluate Common Use Platforms and integration tools based on business requirements, technical feasibility and cost effectiveness
  • Conduct assessments and recommend solutions to drive efficiencies and innovations
  • Actively staying informed about industry standards & trends, user feedback, and technological advancements to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the Common Use Platforms
  • Significantly improve the deployment timeline to ensure Common Use technology is delivered to airports more closely in sync with United’s proprietary hardware

Process Management

  • Implement best practices and standards to ensure continuous functioning of integrated platforms and applications
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance integration processes and performance
  • Identify risks, variances, and limitations associated with the Common Use platforms/hardware and create a strategy to reduce the impact

Leadership

  • Lead a multi-functional impactful team responsible for overseeing technologies and application integrations across agent Common Use workstations, Common Use self service kiosks, non-UA owned digital signage, and Common Use web services
  • Manage vendor development teams assigned to projects and core support
  • Assess and recommend improvements to the organization structure, roles and responsibilities
  • Perform short and long term resources planning to ensure the proper number of resources and right skills are available to meet project goals and schedules
  • Represent United Airlines across industry committees and groups

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in web development, content management systems, and architecture
  • 5+ years of application development and/or data engineering development
  • 3+ years of vendor management experience
  • Understanding of Common Use vendors, platforms, and hardware such as CUSS, CUPPS, and CUTE systems
  • Ability to design effective content models that align with organizational goals and user needs
  • Leadership experience and the ability to guide and inspire a team
  • Project management skills may also be beneficial
  • A mindset for continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
  • Experience in common architecture frameworks such as Microservices, API management
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
