Job Summary

This role provides business leadership subject matter expertise for Americas Employee Benefits. This scope includes defining and maintaining a the region framework for wellbeing priorities, and where applicable the administration, design, service & delivery of active and retiree employee benefits and programs to plan participants as needed to support those goals. These benefits include, but are not limited to, healthcare (i.e. medical, pharmacy, dental) retirement (defined benefit and defined contribution both qualified and non-qualified), welfare (i.e. life insurance, educational ) workplace absence (i.e. workers' compensation and disability) and wellness. Responsibilities include managing the administration, design, service & delivery, eligibility determination, enrollment (annual enrollment and qualified events), customer service, vendors and regulatory compliance and assuring the seamless integration with associated processes such as payroll, international mobility programs. The role is responsible for mergers, acquisition, transformation projects and activities related to employee benefits and total rewards as well as ensuring support as needed to global executive compensation & benefits. The position contributes to the business continuity and crisis management needs of the company. While this role has a majority clientele within the U.S employee benefits portfolio, this role is accountable for ensuring the AMR regional experience with SABIC benefits attains a regional standard of quality and service delivery. The position is granted significant discretionary authority to produce results and satisfy plan participants within assigned benefits plans.


How You Can Be the Impact

  • Leads development and execution of employee benefits strategy.
  • Develops strategic recommendations for contemporary benefit plans and programs that allow SABIC to attract and retain talent while being market competitive.
  • Provides leadership to the benefits team, HR function and business.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on employee benefits and total rewards.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Provides plan governance as delegated plan administrator and fiduciary.
  • Serves as staff to U.S. Retirement Committee.
  • Selects and manages suppliers and vendors ensuring plan participant satisfaction, optimal performance within contractual agreement, and cost management in accordance with operating budget.
  • Financial accountability for Benefits Programs.
  • Maximizes employee satisfaction with benefits provided by the company.
  • Advises and counsels business leadership, including HR functional leadership, on benefits and employee related topics, changes and opportunities and the impact they have on the business, its financials and its employees.
  • Manage employee and participant communications including writing and maintaining summary plan descriptions and modifications.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of assigned benefit plans.
  • Communicate with participants to increase understanding and appreciation of the benefits provided by the company.
  • Lead a team of subject matter experts and create the balance of employee growth and development while also driving the measures and steps for repeatable process and business continuity such as SOPs, cross training, talent pipeline & succession development.


What Matters to SABIC

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, health, social sciences, or related field. Master’s degree in similar fields a plus
  • 15 years minimum experience in employee benefits managing healthcare, retirement, welfare, workplace absence, and wellness or other related field
  • Experience serving on or as staff to a fiduciary committee
  • Experience as a benefits plan administrator
  • Broad experience in supplier and insurance company vendor management, negotiations and sourcing processes skills
  • Managerial experience leading a team
  • Deep knowledge of federal and state laws related to the administration of healthcare benefits
  • Complex and large project leadership experience including employer implementation of new plans, suppliers and vendors
  • Business financial acumen
  • Analytical, problems solving and influencing skills
  • Executive verbal and written presentation skills
  • Expertise in claims adjudication and reporting
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong employee relations skill
