About the job

The Security and Engineering team is looking for a  Senior Software Developer. Are you a problem solver, explorer, and customer success advocate - always asking, "What if?" Passion is our code, and the opportunities here are endless.We are looking for a Senior Software Developerto join our team that supports and develops SAS languages and procedures that provide computational services as part of SAS on the z/OS operating system. You will be working on a core code base, primarily written in C, that enables customers to access, explore, prepare, analyze, and share data.  With customers across the globe, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a diverse set of people (both SAS staff and customers) who share your passion for delivering and using enterprise-class software.

 

As a Senior Software Developer, you will:

  • Participates in project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of task.
  • Works with SAS Technical Support to troubleshoots customer's issues with SAS code.  This may include reviewing/reading dumps sent in by the customer.
  • Maintains accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers.
  • Performs primary responsibilities on complex projects independently.
  • Solves problems with little to no guidance.

Required Qualifications

 

  • 8-12 years of development experience 
  • Proficiency in navigating a TSO/ISPF environment.
  • Proficiency operating in a z/OS Unix System Services (USS) environment (shell, ssh)
  • Familiarity with creating and reading z/OS system dumps (SVC, standalone, SYSMDUMP), both 31bit and 64bit.
  • Proficiency in Job Control Language (JCL batch environment, stored procedures, started tasks)
  • Ability to work in a multi-platform environment (UNIX, MVS, Windows) installing software and troubleshooting remote connectivity issues back to z/OS.
  • Proficiency in C programming language.
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems.
  • Good communication skills - ability to interact with customer contacts to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in z/OS High Level Assember (HLASM)
    • Ability to use AMBLISTs and object module dumps (OMDs) to diagnose compiler and performance problems.
  • RACF administration
  • Java on Z/OS
  • z/OS DB2 administration
  • z/OS System SSL (GSK) familiarity
  • VSAM
  • Familiarity with ICSF
