Workplace Status:
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary work location three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
The SDV Team:
The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! Within the Software Defined Vehicle, GM is developing the next generation of embedded platform software to deliver state of the art Infotainment features on the Ultifi platform. This role requires high level of expertise and capability in software coding, development, issue resolution, debugging and analysis for root cause.
The Role:
The Senior Infotainment PlatformSoftware Architect is responsible for establishing architectural rules and guidelines for the Infotainment Platform software team. The Software Architect ensures that all development teams implement features that comply with the defined architecture.
What You'll Do:
Guide and approve selection of Software Architecture choices and strategies, supplier partner selection, and ensure smooth, on-time development of products that meet/exceed customer expectations. Lead by example in conducting regular reviews of product capability, quality, and on time delivery, both internally and with supplier partners.
Translates business objectives and market requirements to actionable deliverables by defining and delivering architectural solutions that will implement highly maintainable and reliable quality Infotainment software
Develop and manage partnerships with key engineering, product planning, marketing, business development, manufacturing, and vehicle development teams and activities
Foster relationships both within and outside of Infotainment development team to ensure a holistic approach to delivering products is achieved.
Create specifications and product requirements that exceed customer expectations, and ensure the quality of the product is maintained after vehicle sale for the total lifecycle of vehicle ownership.
Review new software and hardware technology for its applicability for current and future Infotainment solutions
Provide architectural guidance to component teams for decisions that will impact the platform.
Ensure that these decisions maintain the integrity of the overall product and minimize the engineering efforts
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
10+ years of hands-on experience in software development life cycle and successfully delivering commercial products to market.
5+ years of increasing responsibility and complexity of managing Software Architectures for a mobile or Infotainment software solution
5+ years of hand-on programming in C/C++
Has experience with the implementation of RTOS based solutions
Expert level of understanding in OTA architecture, design, implementation and deployment
Deep experience in multiple domains critical to infotainment systems, e.g. embedded software development, over the air software updates or configuration, in-vehicle hardware and software development and lifecycle, and/or wireless carrier integration
Familiar with GM Backoffice infrastructure and OTA deployment systems
In depth understanding of different software platforms and technologies for mobile solutions and of memory-constrained mobile devices
Comfortably works at any level of the software stack of a system such as Android and able to device, communicate and defend architectural solutions that may impact the entire platform
Effective communication and presentation skills and able to communicate complex technical concepts to teams at all levels up to senior leadership
MS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical degree

Compensation:
The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
• The salary range for this role is $186,200 to $285,300. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
• Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
• This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
