Our well-established manufacturing client is elevating the HR/People Operations function, creating a new Sr. HR Manager role. Leading a team of two and sitting on the leadership team, this talented individual will report to and work closely with the President and peer leaders to develop effective people operations functions. The role covers the full spectrum of HR, including the related disciplines of safety and payroll, for an employee base of 200. Over its extensive history, our San Joaquin County client has excelled in fabricating diverse products across various industries, enabling them to invest significantly in cutting-edge facilities, equipment, and technology.


What you will do:

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, President, and Executive Team to formulate long and short-range objectives, goals, and actions in alignment with the company’s Strategic Plan
  • Plan, organize, and administer all programs and activities within the HR department
  • Oversee the development of department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Communicate benefit-related changes and implement annual benefit program renewals for all employees
  • Design programs and policies fostering a strong customer service culture within HR
  • Supervise the performance evaluation program and annual employee performance reviews, revising as necessary
  • Mentor managers and supervisors on effective employee relations activities
  • Oversee the development of policies and procedures, including the preparation and maintenance of a handbook on policies and procedures
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of department initiatives, recommending new approaches, policies, and procedures for continual improvement
  • Provide oversight to the Safety and Environmental Department Manager and related functions
  • Supervise and mentor HR Generalist and the day-to-day HR functions.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state human resource requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining records
  • Oversee payroll processing for all employees and related procedures


What we are looking for:

  • 7-10 years of relevant HR experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred
  • Experience working with an hourly workforce
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
  • Expertise in areas such as Training and Development, Performance Management, Coaching and Mentoring, Team Building, Conflict Management, and a dedicated commitment to excellence
  • A focus on career progression and effective communication skills is paramount, alongside adept management of employee relationships
  • Collaborative working is essential, as is a strong foundation in research, problem solving, and exercising sound judgment.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving situations are key attributes
  • Demonstrated technology capabilities
  • Well versed in state and federal laws
  • Four-year degree and Professional in HR (PHR); SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP); SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), preferred
  • Understanding that supporting an onsite workforce is best accomplished by an onsite leadership team. This role is onsite.
