Title: Senior Grants Officer
Department: Development
Salary: $85,000 - $95,000
Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving and under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Grants Officer is responsible for supporting Project Renewal's institutional fundraising goals. The Senior Grants Officer will write and submit multidisciplinary grant proposals and funding reports-ranging in size, scope, and complexity-to a wide array of foundation, corporate, and other funding agencies and organizations. The Senior Grants Officer will also be responsible for grants tracking and management, as well as contribute to prospecting and stewardship efforts.
This position will have goals to produce a specific number of quality proposals and reports in alignment with the organization's annual development plan and the Grants Calendar. The Senior Grants Officer will collaborate with the Director of Institutional Giving, Development Team, and senior leadership to develop strongly positioned proposals that can be marketed effectively and align with Project Renewal's priority investment areas. All work is to be completed with standard supervision, confidentiality, integrity, and good judgment in accordance with organization standards.
This position is currently part-time remote, and part-time in-office in lower Manhattan-subject to change as needed. This role requires periodic travel to various Project Renewal sites throughout New York City.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties of the Senior Grants Officer include but are not limited to the following activities:
  • Writing high-quality, persuasive grant proposals and reports for foundation and corporate funders
  • Developing grant budgets in concert with Director of Institutional Giving, program staff, and/or finance team
  • Building strong working relationships with appropriate program staff
  • Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date Raiser's Edge profiles for institutional organizations; tracking new and completed projects via the Grants Calendar
  • Identifying and forecasting trends and preferences in foundation and corporate fundraising
  • Researching and identifying new funding sources; assisting with donor stewardship and site visits
  • Project managing public grant proposal opportunities.
  • Supporting other Development and communications projects as needed

Qualifications:
  • Minimum bachelor's degree
  • 4-5+ years of experience writing substantive grant proposals, grant reports, and communications materials, preferably for a large size social services nonprofit
  • Experience managing a personal portfolio of grants and all associated stewardship.
  • Strong and demonstrated knowledge of New York City institutional fundraising landscape, as well as standard procedures for private and public grant proposal submissions, funder selection criteria, and post-award funder expectations; New York City Council discretionary fundraising experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, very strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet overlapping deadlines while maintaining a professional work style.
  • Experience with reporting on and interpreting program data and metrics.
  • Experience with collaborating with finance teams to create appropriate grant budgets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively and independently, both in the office and virtually, including with senior level program leaders
  • Aptitude for efficiently and comprehensively preparing for meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and effectively project managing across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs; familiarity with fundraising databases
