Job Description
Job Summary:
The Sr. Global Trade Compliance Auditor role will ensure successful completion of assigned audit engagements from start to finish, inclusive of planning, fieldwork and reporting activities. You will be assigned as Audit Lead on certain audit engagements and will apply risk and control concepts to scenarios encountered and identify potential issues. Communicates identified issues with the Auditee, Business Unit Management and Internal Audit management to ensure potential concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner. This position will entail assignments requiring increased technical skills primarily in Global Trade Compliance. It may also require involvement in departmental projects and related decisions. The position reports to the Internal Audit Director.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assigned audit engagement tasks/areas successfully from beginning to end
  • Identify and communicate issues raised, offering recommended solutions relevant to business and risk
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to other Auditors and provide guidance and advice regarding International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR"), the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR"), and/or US Customs and Border Protection Regulations
  • Ensure audit conclusions are based on a complete understanding of the process, circumstances, and risk
  • Develop engagement specific audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives
  • Obtain and review evidence ensuring audit conclusions are well-documented
  • Communicate status of assigned tasks in a manner that is clear and concise ensuring high quality, accurate, and efficient results
  • Write observations/findings and effectively and efficiently communicate details of observations/findings
  • Conduct interviews and discussions with other company functions (e.g., Legal, Compliance, IT and Finance) to understand perspectives and assess risk
  • Prioritize assignments appropriately to meet deadlines and promptly communicate ahead of time any potential problems that would prevent the team from meeting its objectives
  • Organize personal efforts to be risk-based, productive, and efficient at all times
  • Ensure adequate focus on personal professional growth relevant to taking on more challenging assignments, in line with standard audit career progression; proactively seeks relevant education and training opportunities
  • Lead or participate in department projects as assigned to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Chief Audit Executive or Audit Director
  • Ensure adherence at all times to all applicable department and professional standards

Job Qualifications:
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred in a field such as Finance, International Trade, Business Administration, Law or the equivalent combination of courses/training and 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Export and/or Customs experience, preferably with a high technology/instrumentation/defense company or government agency that regulates international trade
  • Experience researching, interpreting and applying the ITAR and EAR regulatory requirements
  • Experience in reviewing, approving and managing export and import transactions
  • Experience as an Empowered Official preferred, but not required
  • Experience in guiding, assisting, and coordinating export classifications under ITAR and EAR, Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications, Preferential Program eligibility and Country of Origin determinations
  • Ability to observe, understand and document business processes completely and accurately
  • Proactive in researching business best practice concepts in order to apply as appropriate
  • Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment and willing to adapt to change
  • Ability to work with all types of individuals in a constructive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work in small teams and ensure successful results
  • Eagerness to understand other departments in the company with risk, control, and governance responsibilities and what is necessary for successful tactical collaboration and information sharing
  • Excellent communication skills along with good/developing negotiation skills
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25%-35%, primarily domestic and some international

Salary Range:
$68,000.00 - $124,960.00
