As a Sr. Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will develop groundbreaking high-performance controller firmware for non-volatile memory systems. You will assist in the evaluation, creation, building, bench testing, debugging, and failure analysis of firmware for new high-performance memory controllers and Solid-State Drives (SSD). You can expect to partner with multi-disciplinary engineers to address multi-functional product development issues. You will triage failures, file bug reports, and assist the development teams in isolating issues.

What's Encouraged Daily
  • Develop security Firmware for Micron SSDs
  • Design and implement cryptography-based security features for data encryption, Secure Boot, Device Attestation, etc.
  • Integrate security protocols and features into SSD data and control flows
  • Support Firmware development at different stages of the Security Development Lifecycle: design, thread analysis, implementation, validation, vulnerability testing, certification and audit, etc.
  • Build and enhance the Firmware development and validation methodology
  • Debug, optimize, and validate Firmware on SoC platform, bring-up FPGA/ASIC systems
  • Investigate and resolve security protocol compatibility issues

How to Qualify
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related fields
  • Technical expertise in applied cryptography and firmware/hardware security: data encryption, trusted execution environment, secure boot, device attestation, etc.
  • Knowledge of storage security is a plus: TCG Opal/Ruby/Pyrite, IEEE 1667, SPDM, IDE
  • Working knowledge of software engineering principles and designing and developing firmware using C/C++ programming and assembly
  • Extensive experience in Firmware code review, test and validation methodology, static and dynamic code analysis
  • Knowledge of the Agile software development process life cycle

What Sets You Apart
  • Experience with FIPS 140-3 security certification
  • Knowledge of Python

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$122,000.00 - $207,000.00
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
