Job description

 

The candidate should demonstrate strong leadership skills, an ability to mentor junior engineers, and contribute significantly to product innovation and development strategies. This position is remote hybrid with occasional work at our engineering design center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as needed. Work is performed in an ISO9001:2015 environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Lead and develop complex firmware solutions for advanced embedded systems.
• Design and implement control systems and motor control algorithms.
• Guide and mentor associate engineers in firmware development.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align Firmware Design with overall product strategy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in software design, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded software development.
• Strong capability to work effectively as part of a remote team.
• Proficient with embedded toolchains (e.g., GCC, IAR, Code Warrior).
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and creativity.
• Proven track record of successful firmware development projects.
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Expertise in model-based design and simulation.
• Proficiency in C, C++, .NET, Java, or Web programming.
• Deep understanding of 32-bit microcontrollers, FPGA design, and soft-core processors.
• Experience with Serial Communications protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, employee is frequently required to use a computer and type; participate in video teleconferences; sit; stand; walk; use hands to type, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employee must occasionally travel via car and airplane domestically and internationally; lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
