Position Summary:
The Sr. Federal Accounting Controller participates, supervises, and coordinates all activities with month end close, audits, financial analysis, SOX, and internal control compliance. Coordinates the activities of workers engaged in calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow
- Issues written and oral instructions
- Prepares all periodic financial statements and reports for internal and external requirements
- Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures
- Standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
- Maintains harmony among workers and resolves differences
- Reviews and approves invoices for accounts payable processing, including verification of general ledger accounts classification
- Maintain Government/Commercial contract documentation is up to date with supporting documentation
- Reviews invoices for accounts receivable processing, including verification of project account classification
- Maintains and balances the general ledger and prepares all necessary journal entries with supporting documentation as required
- Reviews and approves journal entries with supporting documentation from subordinates.
- Provides Cash flow analysis and prepares daily cash summary
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Maintains the accounting system, procedures, and policies
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, reviewing, and directing work, evaluating, and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
- CPA preferred
Qualifications:
- Ability to perform and meet assigned duties within deadlines
- Ability to maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant period
- Ability to solve problems in a dynamic environment
- Ability to analyze and interpret numerical data
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to perform assigned job duties under constant time pressures
- 10 years of proficiency in Deltek Costpoint software with demonstrated hands-on experience
- 10 years of Government Accounting experience
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and financial background check.
Location: Remote
Travel: 10% as needed
Physical and Technical Environment:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
If this position is listed as remote or hybrid, you’ll periodically work from a Tigua or client site facility.
If this position is listed as onsite, you’ll work with colleagues and clients in person, as needed for the specific role.
