Sr Facil Maint Worker

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: This class is responsible for lead work performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning duties in assigned buildings and grounds areas for the Public Works Commission. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting and performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance work on assigned equipment/facilities; maintaining grounds, landscaped areas; cleaning buildings/stocking supplies for cleaning contractor; relocating furniture and setting up meeting rooms, driving vehicles to transport staff/equipment/supplies; raising/lowering flag; Operates under supervision of the Facilities Construction Maintenance Manager, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performs related work as required. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Manual/power cleaning tools/maintenance/landscaping equipment, tractors, weed-eaters, communication, and other equipment, as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures; skill in using of hand/power tools/equipment required for building maintenance; good knowledge of building cleaning practices/supplies/equipment; ability to work independently; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to carry out the details of the work; ability to communicate effectively; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the general maintenance/cleaning of buildings/grounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Functional Employment Test (FET) required. Must possess/maintain a valid North Carolina Driver's License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.

SAFETY HAZARDS: Inclement weather, and fluctuating temperatures.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: As required in the Public Works Commission's Safety Manual.
