What is the role?

This position will maintain the current infrastructure and further develop the program to be specifically tailored to Westerra and their risk environment, while integrating aspects of COSO ERM. In addition, the role is responsible for facilitating the identification of risks throughout the Credit Union, developing, reporting and monitoring formats on risk management issues and developing methodologies for the assessment of risks throughout the Credit Union. This role will also track and analyze vendor performance, improve procedures for ongoing vendor selection and due diligence monitoring. Reporting will be another component of this role, producing reports on vendor performance and assist with analyzing the risk brought to the organization through each vendor.

What will be expected of me?

  • Facilitate the Credit Union’s risk assessment process, partnering with business units to identify, prioritize and mitigate, as appropriate, risks at all levels
  • Maintain the Vendor Management, Business Continuity Management, and Enterprise Risk Management areas with minimal guidance from the Director of Risk and Compliance
  • Coordinate the Risk Management Committee (RMCO) meetings for the Credit Union
  • Perform annual due diligence on all critical and significant vendor relationships
  • Conduct on-going risk assessments on projects, programs, emerging risks, initiatives and strategies related to goals and objectives
  • Produce on-going reporting for Credit Union Departments, Executives and the Board of Directors so that decisions can be made regarding appropriate risk appetites
  • Work with the Leadership Team, and when applicable the Board of Directors and CEO Round Table to incorporate the strategic direction and approved risk levels into the ERM platform
  • Serve as Subject Matter expert regarding ERM, Vendor Management, and BCP
  • Serve as a resource for the Credit Union regarding enterprise wide risk, mitigation efforts and trending
  • Manage onboarding and maintaining all vendor relationships
  • Coordinate vendor management tasks inclusive of working with external vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the ERM, BCP and the Vendor Management programs
  • Ensure enterprise-wide needs for due diligence, risk assessment and continued vendor monitoring are accomplished
  • Facilitate and maintain the Business Continuity Plan across all business units, including the Business Impact Analysis and Process Vulnerability Assessments for all business units, as well as processing continuity threat assessments, with minimal guidance from the Director of Risk and Compliance.
  • Attend and participate in Business Continuity Response Team Meetings
  • Maintain a high level of service, consistency and professionalism by delivering Westerra Core Values to both internal and external members.
  • Actively promote and contribute to the achievement of organizational goals.
  • Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications
  • Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests
  • Review and coach the work of lower level professionals within the team
  • Other duties as assigned.

What am I bringing?

Experience/Education:

  • 6+ years’ equivalent work experience in operational, regulatory compliance and/or risk experience required, preferably in a financial institution

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain programs, features, policies and procedures to employees, members and business partners
  • Must maintain high-level of confidentiality
  • Can be accountable for managing projects/processes, working independently with limited supervision
  • Acts autonomously on most decisions. Requires guidance on more complex judgments.
  • Advanced understanding of the business line and a growing understanding of the overall organization and competitive environment.
  • Able to handle problems that are difficult and sometimes complex
  • Ability to influence timelines, expectations, and proactively negotiate within department
  • Strong relationship building and teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of Westerra financial products and services.
  • Ability to exhibit confidence in role

What is the work environment like, and are there physical requirements for this role?

  • Dispersed flexible team environment both on Westerra campus and remote

Salary: in addition to the starting annual range of $83,284 - $104,105, this role is also be eligible for Westerra’s self-funding reward plan. This plan pays out a cash incentive annually if the company hits specific criteria tied to our financial goals and you will have a direct impact on the outcome of those results!
