In this role, you will work as part of a team responsible for crafting and implementing software solutions to creatively and efficiently tackle outstanding and sophisticated needs for the satellite communication ground system development and integration. This position will work on overall systems integration at Viasat with tremendous transparency across hardware, software, and integration teams. Additionally, you will develop and support automated test software and scripting.

The day-to-day
  • Work on High Assurance Architectures and detailed design
  • Embedded Systems experience in the design, development, production, testing, and maintenance of embedded systems.
  • Work on:
  • Detailed networking protocols & APIs (OpenSSL, WolfSSL, SNMP, MQTT, XMPP, etc.)
  • Embedded networking (TCP / IP Stack, UDP / IP, HTTPS Server, SSL/ TLS / IPSec, PKI, SNMP, etc).
  • Proficiently debugging software systems, unit testing, emulation, and logic analyzer.
  • Solid communication skills (written and verbal), ability to support technical exchanges within cross functional teams or design-, code-, test-level engineers and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced/dynamic environment.
  • Experience supporting technical proposal efforts including requirements decomposition and verification techniques, architectural design, product definition and description as well as estimation.

What you'll need
  • Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science with minimum 7 years of hands-on embedded design, development, integration and successful verification experience.
  • Required ANSI C/C++ languages and Linux experience.
  • Expertise in root cause analysis of hardware, software and firmware defects and resolution of defects.
  • Experience writing protocols and firmware development practices and comfortable working with a variety of operating systems.
  • Experience in High Assurance Architectures, certifications, design and Product lifecycles.
  • Solid communication skills (written and verbal), ability to provide sufficient technical detail to "speak to/communicate the level of the audience, and ability to work in fast-paced, demanding environments under challenging time constraints and comfortably multi-task.
  • Proof of United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance within 18 months.
  • Ability to travel 10% (domestically or internationally)

What will help you on the job
  • Proficiency with C#, SOC, NAND FLASH, and Scripting languages: TCL, Bash, Perl, and Python
  • Experience working with domestic and regulatory agencies as well as the Services
  • Experience designing SATCOM systems, Radios, Modems, Avionics, Waveforms, and/or Physical layer communications systems.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or equivalent experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% (domestically or internationally).

Salary range
$163,200.00 - $283,800.00 / annually
