Serves as the Industrial Hygiene (IH) Technician for the US facilities responsible for performing and/or scheduling occupational hygiene monitoring and maintaining the testing equipment. Performs and/or coordinates employee audiometric testing for the US MFG/R&D site. Serves as the administrator for two EHS software platforms; Benchmark Gensuite and ISNetworld, ensuring proper functionality, employee accessibility, and engaging vendors on improvements. Manages Corporate EHS programs according to regulatory requirements and handles associated training and recordkeeping. Leads employee incident investigations to identify root cause and drives corrective action plans. Supports OSHA VPP certification through effective leadership of designated element teams and collaboration with VPP Coordinator to ensure site compliance. Lead auditor for EHS compliance and risk management audits of MK sites and Sales Force events.
Responsibilities
  • Serves as the Industrial Hygiene (IH) Technician for the US facilities under the direction of the IH Program Manager. Responsible to conduct IH exposure monitoring surveys for work areas and maintains IH equipment by completing and/or coordinating required calibration and replacement in accordance with specifications.
  • Leads the Hearing Conservation Program and conducts employee audiology testing for applicable local MK facilities as needed. Manages hearing test records, employee communications, and retests.
  • Conducts respirator fit testing for employees at the US MFG/R&D facility whose job or work tasks require them to wear respirators. Manages fit test records, employee communications, and retests
  • Serves as the Benchmark Gensuite system administrator. Provides support in the following areas; manages the MK site's setup, supervises system permission levels and access, coordinates employee EHS training through the site, manages employee training records for EHS courses, trains employees/departments on Benchmark Gensuite applications (as needed), and troubleshoots system issues.
    • Coordinates e-learning EHS courses with third-party vendor to ensure proper interface with Benchmark Gensuite. Ensures employee EHS training records are properly captured and maintained in Benchmark Gensuite.
    • Collects, organizes, interprets, and summarizes data of various types from Gensuite into the proper format for analysis by MK leadership per request.
  • Manages EHS regulatory programs as assigned to ensure compliance with requirements. Develops training material and conducts employee training as needed. Responsible to maintain records associated with the designated programs. Tracks costs associated with program management. Assists with developing new or updated EHS procedures based on regulatory changes, work area modifications, and/or employee or management feedback.
    • Oversees contractor management program and serves as the ISNetworld (ISN) administrator. Partners with ISN to ensure company requirements for contractors are followed, directly manages the MK-managed independent service contractors, create and deploy contractor EHS training materials, approves work permits, supervises system permission levels and access, and troubleshoots system issues.
    • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) subject matter expert. Supports site leaders in the implementation of the PIT program at the respective US MK sites. Develops and/or approves PIT training materials used at MK sites for operator certification. Directly manages the PIT trainers and the rewards program (as applicable). Responsible to create and print employee PIT certification badges. Conducts periodic audits of the PIT program.
  • Member of the Corporate EHS Audit Team. Leads EHS audits of MK facilities to ensure workplace conditions comply with applicable local, state, and federal EHS regulatory requirements and company standards and ensures that all applicable and required records are prepared and maintained. Inputs audit findings in the electronic audit system, assigns action items to the appropriate personnel, and tracks status to closure.
  • Conducts routine walkthroughs of designated areas at the US MFG/R&D facility to check compliance with EHS regulatory requirements, evaluates employee concerns, and/or corrects any immediate issues. Participates in special projects as the EHS representative related to designated areas as needed.
  • Lead auditor for EHS and Risk Management of the facility and event setup at major MK Sales Force conferences/events.
  • Supports implementation of OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) at the US MFG/R&D site. Serves as the EHS Champion for VPP Safety Element Teams as assigned. Provides guidance, training, and support to VPP Element Team members to ensure the goals/objectives of the team are accomplished. Works in conjunction with the entire EHS team to provide procedural guidance to site leadership regarding the VPP.
  • Manages employee and temporary contract labor personnel safety incidents for designated departments. Conducts Tier 1 incident investigations, manages the incident corrective action plan, and maintains employee incident documentation. Works with department leadership and/or Human Resources regarding adverse safety behaviors and trends that impact the work environment.
  • Creates and maintains information for the departmental EHS webpage and digital communication message system
  • Manages the office ergonomics program. Monitors employee self-assessments submitted to the online ergonomics software. Uses data to conduct evaluations and recommend changes and improvements to the workspace
  • This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

Skills & Experience
Experience: 5+ years of Environmental, Health, and Safety
Education/Certifications: Bachelor/University Degree. Must be able to obtain a certification as an Audiologist and (at a minimum) Associate Industrial Hygienist.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of risk assessments and hazard recognition, and a working knowledge of OSHA environment and safety workplace standards. Knowledge of environmental compliance regulations is a plus.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to quickly learn new technology/software to pull data, create reports, and/or prepare training materials and classes.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions. Able to communicate complex and technical information in a way that audiences can quickly understand the issues and opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment and immediately change priorities when needed.
  • Must be able to work independently with little direction and exercise sound judgment to carry out project-oriented work.
  • Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and possess the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with peers and all levels of management.
  • Ability to perform duties with judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Domestic travel required approximately 20% of time.
