Department CLINICAL TRANSLAT SCI (CTSI) (IN-DMCT-IUINA) Department Information The Indiana CTSI is a statewide partnership among Indiana's top research universities: Indiana University, Purdue University, The University of Notre Dame, and the Regenstrief Institute. We bring together the brightest minds to solve the state's most pressing health challenges. Founded in 2008, the Indiana CTSI is supported by a Clinical and Translational Science Award by the National Institute of Health.

Leadership and staff are working together to develop the best processes and resources to enable the efficient translation of scientific discoveries to patient care. We are dedicated to leveraging and strengthening the state's life sciences community to achieve better health for people in Indiana. Job Summary The Sr.

Director of Strategic Operations will ensure collaboration through the design and implementation of processes and practices that break down walls across the enterprise (IUSM, IUPUI, IUB, IUH, UCA) to help enable cross-unit, multidisciplinary team science collaborations. This role has significant autonomy in decisions for the research mission of the CTSI. Department-Specific Responsibilities Initiates new programs to increase effectiveness and engagement of employees and efficiency of operations.

Performs unsupervised collection of data; analyzes and evaluates the information. Evaluates workloads of subordinates to ensure effective use of time, talent, and resources. Collaborates to set policy and drives adherence.

Negotiates research administration and finance arrangements with clinical, academic, and community partners and within the University. Strengthens external (academic and industry) collaborations by nurturing partnerships with government and community leaders throughout the state of Indiana. General Responsibilities Participates on senior leadership teams to formulate strategic planning and the highest-level operational objectives for project management areas.

Establishes long-term business plans and long-term strategic objectives. Manages projects to ensure on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs. Directs leadership staff who provide supervision to Program Management teams.

Responsible for escalated operational issues, including human resources and/or people management situations. Drives innovation and excellence to ensure program growth and success, reviews and creates policies and procedures. Determines overall budget for Program Management teams; reviews and approves financial proposals from direct reporting leaders; has significant fiscal responsibilities that require frequent interaction with executive leaders.

Provides expertise and identifies grant and/or funding opportunities; develops business relationships across the university and externally. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience.

Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education. EDUCATION Required Bachelor's degree. WORK EXPERIENCE Required 5 years of relevant experience.

3 years of management experience. SKILLS Required Proficient communication skills. Ability to lead/manage others.

Ability to work within tight time frames and meet strict deadlines. Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.

Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
