Job Description

BrightFarms is The Place to Grow!

At BrightFarms, we’re on a mission to revolutionize the way leafy greens are grown. But we don’t just want to grow great-tasting greens, we want them to do good as well: for the planet, for the health of people, and for the well-being of our employees. We give BrightFarmers the tools, training, support, and opportunities they need to do better for themselves and the world every day. Because when you do good for your people, they do good for the world.

BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with its expanding network of high-tech, sustainable hydroponic farms.  We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with three new regional greenhouse hubs opening this year.  BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 4,500 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest.

We are looking for a Senior Director of Agriculture, who will lead our Digital Agriculture and Corporate Grower teams to achieve our mission of sustainable, efficient, and scalable production of leafy greens. You will be responsible for strategic planning, implementation of digital agriculture technologies, and management of all growing protocols across our locations. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving innovation, improving yields, and ensuring the highest standards of agricultural practices.

Specifically, you will:

  • Work closely with General Manager and Growers at each farm, external partners, and stakeholders to align efforts and achieve overall farm agriculture objectives
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for agricultural operations, focusing on the integration of digital technologies to improve efficiency, productivity, and sustainability
  • Lead, mentor, and expand the Digital Agriculture and Corporate Grower teams. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee the adoption and implementation of digital agriculture solutions such as precision farming, IoT-based monitoring systems, and data analytics to optimize farm operations
  • Ensure all farm locations operate at peak efficiency, comply with regulatory standards, and adhere to sustainable farming practices
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to trial new technologies, crop varieties, and farming techniques that can enhance the production of leafy greens
  • Develop and manage the agriculture operations budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support strategic objectives and operational needs
  • Leverage data analytics to make informed decisions, report on performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement

The ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role overseeing digital agriculture initiatives
  • Proven track record of implementing digital agriculture technologies and practices
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent strategic planning, problem-solving, and project management abilities
  • Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
