ABOUT THE POSITION: We are looking for a Sr CMM Technician to join our Quality department. We are fortunate to have a world-class, state-of-the-art facility with all Universal equipment. The pace is fast, the environment is casual, and the products we make are cool! This position will report to our Quality Engineer NPD and will focus on effective and efficient use of metrology equipment, lab maintenance and improvement, and ensuring clarity of customer requirements.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE: You’ll have a High School Diploma/GED or an Associate’s Degree within an Engineering discipline (preferred). You’re very experienced with CMM programming (5+ years’ experience), have basic surface plate layout skills, and enjoy measuring a variety of products. You have experience with GD&T and reading blueprints. Bringing your PC-DMIS CAD ++ training level 2 or equivalent certification, Optical Comparator experience, and Datapage+ experience would be beneficial to the team! Lastly, you enjoy communicating and brainstorming with a variety of people within engineering and operations.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
You will EXPLORE:
- By doing CMM programming and operations (PC-DMIS and CAD ++, romer arm with laser scanner and polywork)
- By creating programs for inspection of complex surface profiles using touch point and analog scanning with and without 3D models
- By generating Color Maps for complex 3D surfaces
- By generating Point Clouds for reverse engineering of components and parts and development of New Products (NPD) and Mold Tool Steel Verification
- By generating reports for process capability, Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR), Reverse Engineering and Tool Verifications

- By training and mentoring applicable personnel to program and operate metrology equipment
- By collaborating with Engineering (NPD and Current) to clarify and resolve tolerance or specification problems
- By collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering to clarify and resolve measurement problems

- By maintaining equipment to ensure consistent and accurate results
- By maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- By reviewing customer, supplier, and internal drawings to ensure synchronized specifications are identified and associated control methods are developed for new and existing products
