Job description

The IT Sr. Business Intelligence Manager reports to the Director, Business Analytics & Data Integration Technologies.as part of the Information Technology team.  This role leads the development and support efforts surrounding the Business Intelligence initiatives and environments used throughout the company. This role works closely and collaboratively with the Business Units and the IT team to assist in creating short and long term value in the use of data across the At Home organization.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities: 

 

  • Provide leadership for determining level of effort estimates and timelines for setting delivery dates on projects, production support issue resolution and enhancement requests.
  • Provide architectural guidance and strategy input for the Business Intelligence Systems area.
  • Author functional and technical design documentation.
  • Define and apply enterprise standards, policies, patterns and reference architectures to all solutions.
  • Manage the manipulation of large data sources to transform data into business information and insights for which to fulfill At Home business teams strategic business objectives 
  • Manage and develop interactive tools that provide highly effective 'scenario' analysis for various key users
  • Provide technical guidance and feedback to support the IT Business Intelligence group to construct complex SQL queries and work with other data extraction, reporting and analytic tools to support the development of Ad Hoc queries and reports 
  • Design and maintain highly complex data/databases  including but not limited to designing of complex logical/physical databases
  • Manage the construction of reports, cubes, ETL, and databases to optimize the performance of the Data Warehouse while maintaining security, integrity, and accessibility of the data
  • Engage in code review of changes made by the delivery team.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure support personnel to define operational aspects of business solutions (security, network, integration, etc.)
  • Unit test new and modified capabilities as needed.
  • Assist QA resources with the definition of test cases and setup of test scenarios for QA and UAT testing.
  • Define deployment and backout plans, and schedule implementations.
  • Oversee the deployment and monitoring of application changes and facilitate all aspects of the change control process for the Business Intelligence team.
  • Provide and manage production support of applications, including after hours on-call support.
  • Monitor internal work orders, and related external ticketing systems, for assigned tasks related to the support of the Business Intelligence Systems.
  • Collaborate as a member of the leadership team in regards to process and procedures within Information Technology
  • Follow established procedures to meet SOX compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and summarize progress of work orders for management.


 

 

 

 

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Understanding of change management strategy and practice.
  • Ability to manage disagreements through consensus building, relationship management and the formation and presentation of logical, data and fact-based arguments.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field or equivalent year-for-year experience required.
  • Five or more years of experience leading the design, development, implementation, and support of BI applications and processes.
  • Five or more years of experience in leading the interaction between the business team and IT
  • Five or more years working with the principles of Business Intelligence, Inmon and Kimball designs, Cube design methodologies, visualization methods, and database architecture in relation to reporting and analytics
  • Experience with SQL-based technologies across multiple databases (Sybase, SQLServer, iSeries DB2)
  • Experience with Tableau and Excel BI tools
  • Retail industry experience preferred, especially related to any of the following areas: store operations, warehouse distribution, store allocation, merchandising, marketing, accounting, and finance.
