Job description

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Sr. Auditor - Coding Compliance
  • Location: Hybrid - Evanston, IL / work from home
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday during normal business hours

 

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or relate field required or an Associate's Degree with equivalent years of work experience.
  • Certification: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS required.
  • Experience: 3 years of related experience preferred in outpatient Coding Compliance, Medicare reimbursement, chart review
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management skills
    • Expertise in Excel and Word
    • Expertise with medical terminology, coding systems, and Medicare payment systems
    • Experience with Epic EHR and 3M Coding Systems is a plus.

 

What you will do:

  • Audit inpatient or outpatient facility and physician claims using ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines
  • Audit processes using Medicare guidelines related to required documentation elements and to ensure the accuracy of claims released
  • Research the necessary governmental regulations (including but not limited to Medicare transmittals, Manuals, LCD, NCD) and coding guidelines (including but not limited to CPT Assistant, NCCI, Coding Clinic) pertinent to audits and department requests
  • Meet with administrative staff to develop an understanding of billing processes, communicate audit results, and recommend corrective action plans
