Position will work atleast one day in Princeton office, and atleast one day in Philadelphia office every week.
Position Overview:
In this role as, you will be able to influence and lead the execution of our corporate giving and grantmaking while contributing to our emergency response and related efforts in the northeast area. This position helps guide NRG's philanthropic efforts in our core pillars of Choice and Education, Community, Resilience and Sustainability and Well-being, and provide dynamic and effective leadership relating to the company's efforts around impactful philanthropic giving. This is a fast-paced environment which requires a high degree of professionalism, organization, and attention to detail, coupled with the ability to multitask and prioritize. Responsibilities:

  • Drives, implements, and oversees programs, plans, and measurable goals to support current and future NRG Community Engagement, philanthropic and social impact efforts in the northeast area.
  • Manages initiatives, reports results, and makes recommendations based on risk mitigation, brand building, reputation, community impact, and other factors.
  • Leads engagement with business leaders and subject matter experts on specific projects relating to corporate philanthropy to coordinate strategies, plans, and follow through on tactical efforts.
  • Collaborates with partners to ensure effective Community Engagement activities maximize brand, growth, employee experience and social impact objectives.
  • Builds and supports connections across teams to create buy-in and drive programs and projects.
  • Derives value through relationships and opportunities identified through increased external partnerships and events.
  • Serve as internal expert and external representative on philanthropic issues for the northeast market. Benchmark's competition and industry best practices.
  • Looks for opportunities involving employee volunteer programs that support the community.
  • Manages onsite community-related projects and events.
  • Partner with Marketing, Public Relations/Communications and Government Affairs to develop content and materials regarding corporate social responsibility mission and progress.
  • Take primary responsibility for developing and maintaining digital portals in coordination with appropriate internal functions.
  • Act as brand ambassador at philanthropic events and on occasion, represent the program and brand at public engagements.
  • While there are no immediate direct staff supervisory responsibilities, this position will frequently lead teammates in projects and will have considerable influence to direct the work of others in the achievement of the organization's social impact goals.

Key Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferably in Business Management, Communications, Public Administration, Government, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Experience: Working knowledge and experience in CSR practices and policies of 3-5 years of experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, communication and / or related fields, including two years of experience in DEI programs or equivalent education.
  • Must be conversant in corporate responsibility, social issues, DEI, and best practices, including in areas of philanthropy, environmental sustainability, community affairs, and volunteerism.
  • Preferably, be connected of non-profits in the northeast area either through personal interest or involvement with committee or Board service.
  • Demonstrated abilities to influence, lead/motivate, and build networks and influence leaders and business areas indirectly to achieve results towards desired outcomes.

  • Team player with cross-functional project leadership skills, and strong collaboration.
  • Ability to think strategically, identify emerging issues, analyze potential impacts, and translate ideas and insights into viable recommendations for action.
  • Must possess attention to detail, confidentiality, integrity, and the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and interact vertically and horizontally across the organization.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills with high levels of EQ and successful experience working in a matrixed organizational environment.
  • Proven ability to make an impact and to collaborate with others
  • Ability to positively interface with management, employees, corporate staff and outside partners.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under pressure and balance competing priorities and deadlines
  • Self-motivated and driven, with a demonstrable positive attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced user of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:
  • Primarily in an office environment.
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise and ability to be onsite and in person at community events.
  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
