A Brief Overview
The Sr. Application Performance Monitoring Engineer role drives the development and usage of all infrastructure and APM tooling, including synthetic, real user, and Application Performance of in-house and cloud-managed/hosted applications. With a pragmatic approach, this role will develop a toolset strategy and apply/support the integration of monitoring tools into the technical landscape that meets all immediate and long-term stakeholder needs. Additionally, this role will document and evangelize best practices, mentor and develop support associates, and participate in the tooling and monitoring strategy.
What you will do:

What you will do:
- The Application Performance Monitoring Engineer will configure and maintain a scalable and robust monitoring and alerting systems. In addition, be a consultant for all Performance Monitoring tools (i.e., Dynatrace, SolarWinds Orion). Provide input on design and processes while partnering with application and infrastructure teams.
- Build, create, and automate reports and dashboards that reflect business priorities, metrics, and user experiences as well as conduct system capacity planning analysis
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to create, deliver, and maintain automated alerting and notification focusing on reducing mean time to restore (MTTR).
- Actively participate in the incident response process and drive the triage and diagnosis of problems.
- Analyze data and process flows to determine the performance of existing hardware and applications (conceptual benchmarking)
- Review IT tooling industry best practices and determine suitability/applicability to the environment
- Interact with hardware, software, and platform vendors and assist with budget planning
What you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related or equivalent experience
- 4-6 years Relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to quickly define problems, draw valid conclusions and drive decisions to best support the enterprise
- Familiarity with building single pane of glass dashboards that provide key insights and analysis about environment health, capacity, and performance
- Experience as a Site Readiness Engineer is a plus
- Experience in reliability and maintenance, or engineering
- Experience in reporting / analytic solution development
- Experience with end-to-end monitoring and observability concepts, apps support procedures and other technical areas.
Skills and Abilities:
- Dynatrace, SolarWinds Orion Suite of Products Preferred:OpsGenie, Nagios XL, ThousandEyes, Grafana (Medium proficiency)
- Ability to earn trust and build credibility with key internal partners. Ability to take the initiative and work in a highly dynamic environment. Ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment. Demonstrated team player who can build strong relationships at all levels of the organization. Robust interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills. (High proficiency)
