Sr Accountant, Excise Tax

The purpose of this job is to ensure the company is compliant with accurate federal, state, and local Excise Tax rates.

Essential Functions

• Conduct Excise Tax taxability research and tax account reconciliation
• Perform federal, state, and local tax rate verification and research
• Manage system maintenance for Ascend, Lawson, and FuelSmart
• Assist Excise Tax supervisor and lead Excise Tax accountant with more extensive review of Excise Tax issues
• Train and mentor Excise Tax accountants
• Model behaviors that support the company's common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
• Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Complete other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required
• Minimum five years' experience with federal, multistate, and local Excise Tax required

Specialized Knowledge

• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Access
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA exam-eligible preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Lawson, Ascend, FuelSmart, Fueltrac, and Husker Oil software

Pay Rates Starting between: $89,670.00 - $147,945.00 / year
