Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Rosemont, IL - Hybrid
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Accountant to lead our finance team in managing the company's financial activities. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations within consumer products division.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
* Assist in leading the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
* Prepare and review financial statements, variance analysis, and other management reports.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee the management of capital expenditures specific to fixed assets including capitalization, depreciation, impairment and on-going maintenance of schedules.
* Manage and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
* Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals during audits and tax filings.
* Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving profitability and efficiency.
* Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
* Prepare and review month-end reconciliations and journal entries and ensure adherence to corporate reporting deadlines.
* Provide regular status updates to business unit Controller as to accounting initiatives in progress.
* Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
* Evaluate and implement accounting software and systems enhancements to streamline processes and improve productivity.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as operations, sales, and procurement to drive business objectives and initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
* 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the retail or consumer products industry.
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
* Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience with process improvement initiatives and system implementations is a plus.
