Position Overview:
As a Senior Accountant at American Portfolio Mortgage Corporation, you'll play a vital role in our finance department. We're looking for someone who's not only proficient in accounting practices but also eager to tackle challenges, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to our company's financial success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Review branch P&Ls for accuracy at month-end close.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial information.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close processes.
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role; at least 2 years in a mortgage accounting role.
- Proficiency in Excel is essential.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and technical accounting standards.
- Familiarity with Loan Vision software is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and variances.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to occasionally work extended hours to meet deadlines.
