SQF Facility Auditor

Our corporate office in Livonia, Michigan is currently seeking an SQF Facility Auditor (Implementation Lead) to join our team! The essential function of the FSQ Facility Auditor is responsible for conducting food safety (SQF internal and external) and quality audits at Mastronardi Produce farms and facilities in United States and Canada. The FSQ Facility Auditor supports the Senior Director of Food Safety and Quality to ensure quality activities and results are compliant to external food safety standards as well as internal product specifications, performance standards and customer requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintain and further develop internal audit program across all Mastronardi facilities
• Conduct internal audits at all Mastronardi facilities to the appropriate external standard(s) (SQF, GMP, HACCP, HACQP etc.) as well as internal product specifications, work instructions and customer requirements. Administers and facilitates corrective actions when necessary
• Assist the Sr. Director of Food Safety and the facility teams with their unannounced external SQF and regulatory audits and inspections.
• Participate in unannounced third-party audits and facilitate corrective actions when necessary
• Prepares internal audit reports that provide an assessment of the organization's food safety and quality system, administer corrective actions and follow-up reports to key staff and management
• Serve as the objective liaison between audited facilities and Directors of FS&Q to ensure quality systems are developed, documented and effectively implemented in accordance to the Mastronardi Produce Food Safety and Quality Program
• Knowledge of food safety regulations is vital; it is incumbent on the individual to interpret the criteria and action of regulatory issues to ensure the Mastronardi Produce Food Safety and Quality Program fulfills the requirements
• Read and digest substantial amounts of documented regulatory information (CFR, FDA, USDA, EPA, CFIA, Health Canada etc.)
• Become a subject matter expert regarding these types of audits
• Provide assistance with scheduling audits, maintain relationships with key vendors and ensure audit invoices are paid in a timely manner.
• Establish trust and maintain upmost confidentiality when reviewing highly sensitive and proprietary information
• Ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., GMPs, SQF, HACCP, HACQP, OSHA, WHMIS)
• Interface with SQF and the certifying bodies to ensure our sites are properly audited and certified.
• Responsible for staying informed of regulatory changes and changes to third party standards (ie. SQF, EFI etc.) relevant to Mastronardi owned facilities.
• Report to senior management as needed

Education/Background Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Business or related field is preferred.
• At least five years' experience in a Quality Assurance/Management function, ideally in a cGMP environment.
• Current HACCP certificate required.
• Trained internal auditor
• Experience with the SQF standard and auditing to that standard.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Strong knowledge of food safety and quality systems, HACCP, ISO 9001, cGMP, SQF etc.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels inside the business and externally with suppliers, customers and regulatory agencies.
• Excellent analytical, time management and organizational skills.
• Must be able to maintain and submit timely expense reports.
• Technical skills, including computer proficiency and data management.
• Strong customer, quality and continuous improvement focus.
• Auditing experience required, with required ability to read and interpret documentation for regulatory and audit standards.
• Ability to document preventative and immediate corrective actions.
• Sign a Continuous Confidentiality Agreement.
• Spanish language skills preferred.

Working Conditions:

• Combination of office (80%) and refrigerated warehouse (20%) environment.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Position requires sitting, standing, walking and bending on a regular basis.
• Must have manual dexterity to perform computer skills.
• Valid passport and driver's license must be maintained.
• Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time; overnight stays will be required
