Sports Officials, Scorekeepers and Supervisors

Recreation Services

Part Time Temporary Positions


Rate of Pay:

Sports Officials - starting at $21-30 per hour

Scorekeepers - starting at $15 per hour

Site Supervisors - $15 per hour

Not eligible for all benefits, will accrue paid sick time

The City of Prescott Recreation Services Department is taking applications for temporary Sports Officials, Scorekeepers and Supervisors for ALL seasons. Games are scheduled Monday through Friday. Game times vary but could begin as early as 6:00 p.m. with the last game ending as late as 10:00 p.m. Weekend work may also be available for supervisors. Sports include Adult Softball (May-August), Adult Basketball(July-August & January-March) and Adult Volleyball(March-May & Sept-Nov).

Scorekeepers:

Must attend mandatory training sessions. Minimum age is 16 years old. Scorekeepers are required to keep the score book, operate the scoreboard and announce lineups and inning recaps for softball if needed. Starting pay for Scorekeepers is $15.00 per game for Softball, Volleyball and Basketball.

Officials:

Prefer AIA certified for Basketball and Volleyball but not mandatory. Softball umpires with previous experience are preferred, but not mandatory. Must provide own equipment for specific sports. Uniforms will be provided for softball but must possess (or obtain before starting) referee jersey for Basketball and Volleyball. Must attend mandatory training sessions. Sports officials earn $21-$30 per game depending on the sport.

Supervisors:

Must have good customer service skills and be familiar with sports rules. Must attend mandatory training sessions. Supervisors starting pay is $15 per hour.

Physical and Visual Ability: Sufficient to effectively and safely perform required duties and to safely
operate required equipment.

Hearing and Speaking Ability: Clearly, concisely, and effectively communicate in person and over
the telephone.

Successful candidate will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include:

  • Drug screening
  • Motor vehicle records check
  • Criminal background screening
