Bachelor's degree (must apply and be accepted in one of many graduate programs at Sul Ross State University). Have previous athletic communications/athletic media relations experience either as a student worker, intern, or Graduate Assistant. Standard office machines; computer skills.

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, sport management or related field. Possess a working knowledge of StatCrew and NCAA Genius statistical software; have strong oral and writing skills in addition to a thorough knowledge of college athletics. Knowledge in layout and design using Adobe Creative Suite or a similar program and two years of experience as a Sports Information/media relations student assistant is preferred. The ability to use Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, etc.), NCAA Live Stats, and Statcrew software are a plus.

Sul Ross State University, an NCAA Division III institution located in Alpine, Texas, and a member of the American Southwest Conference, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Graduate Assistant position in the department of Sports Information. SRSU sponsors 12 men's and women's athletic teams.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Director of Sports Information in covering all 12 of SRSU's sports. In this role, the successful applicant will be serving as the liaison between the media, student-athletes and coaches.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, web site maintenance; writing and dissemination of press releases and feature stories; layout and design of assigned game notes and game day programs using Adobe Creative Suite; assist with day-to-day operations of the Sports Information office for home events; travel to select events if required; collect and maintain statistical information; update and maintain sports social media accounts; and other duties as assigned.
Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. This position is security sensitive.

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Noncampus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
