The San Mateo County Event Center and Fair is a public assembly facility which hosts a wide variety of events and produces the San Mateo County Fair, operates the Jockey Club - a satellite wagering facility for horseracing, as well as a full-service food operation. We are seeking a talented and motivated Sponsorship Sales Coordinator to join our dynamic team. POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Sponsorship Sales Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in securing sponsorship partnerships for the 2024 San Mateo County Fair. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying and engaging potential sponsors, managing sponsorship relationships, and achieving revenue targets.
This position is a part-time role and will be effective immediately, with a planned end date of July 31, 2024. Don't miss the chance to be part of an incredible event and contribute to its success! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Identify and research potential sponsors to approach for partnerships.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing sponsors to ensure their continued support.
- Create, deliver and sell compelling sponsorship proposals.
- Negotiate sponsorship agreements and contracts.
- Identify and call local businesses to solicit cash Sponsorship Sales.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure sponsors receive the agreed-upon benefits.
- Track and report on Sponsorship Sales progress.
- Collaborate with the events and marketing team to guarantee the seamless implementation of sponsorship activations, encompassing elements such as banners, social media posts, logo placements, booth spaces, website listings, and more.
- Achieve and exceed revenue goals based on tier level targets.
- Keep up-to-date records of sponsor contact information and agreements.
- Provide excellent customer service to sponsors and partners.
- Prepare detailed post-Fair recaps for sponsors, summarizing their deliverables, the impact of their sponsorship, and any key metrics or data related to their participation. This includes post-event reports and visual representations, ensuring that sponsors have a comprehensive understanding of the value and exposure they received through their partnership with the 2024 Fair.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Proven experience in Sponsorship Sales or a related field.
- Strong communication, negotiation and follow-up skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Self-motivated and results-driven.
- Knowledge of Fair or event sponsorships is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A passion for the event and fair industry is desirable.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with management, colleagues, and clients.
- Requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary (only during the Fair - June 1-9, 2024).
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver's license and current automobile insurance in order to operate carts and vehicles while onsite.

Commission Opportunities
The Sponsorship Sales Coordinator will receive a base rate per hour for 25 hours per week. In addition to the base rate, commission opportunities will be available based on tier level goals, providing the potential for additional earnings.
- Tier 1 Commission Rate: Once a salesperson reaches $25,000 in cash Sponsorship Sales, their commission rate is 8% of the $25,000.
- Tier 2 Commission Rate: Once a salesperson reaches $50,000 in cash Sponsorship Sales, their commission rate is 10% of the $50,000.
- Tier 3 Commission Rate: Once a salesperson reaches $75,000 in cash Sponsorship Sales, their commission rate is 12% of the $75,000.
- Tier 4 Commission Rate: Once a salesperson reaches $100,000 in cash Sponsorship Sales, their commission rate is 15% of the $100,000.
