A successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to pass our required skills assessment.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree (preferred, but not required).
  • 3 years’ experience working as an interpreter (preferred, but not required).
  • Ability to travel independently in the metropolitan area.
    • Where driving is required – access to a vehicle, valid driver’s license, and person vehicular insurance at the minimum state required level.

Job Snapshot:

Sorenson Communications is looking for part-time community (on-site) interpreters to provide the highest quality interpretation services in English and in at least one other language. Interpreters of any world language are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must display a wide continuum of language skills and consistently deliver excellent internal and external customer service. All Applicants provide verification of language proficiency and interpreting skills and pass an internal screening.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively interpret between English and at least one other language.
  • Ability to use technology to accurately report for billing, scheduling and service evaluation.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
  • Demonstrate written and verbal fluency in at least one Spoken Language in addition to other than English.
  • Responsible to adhere to Sorenson Communications policies and procedures, and the Code of Ethics for Community Interpreters.
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues.
  • Work effectively in a team environment; receive support from and provide support to colleagues.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet performance and customer service expectations with minimal supervision.
  • Enhance interpreting skills through continued education training.
  • Maintain, as applicable, compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the various on-site interpreting needs.
  • Fully comply with Sorenson attendance requirements.
  • Effectively represent the Sorenson Communications brand when interacting with customers in the field.
  • Be prompt and prepared for each interpreting engagement.
  • Be flexible with assignment changes.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to complete additional and other duties as assigned.
