Job Description
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Speech Therapist to provide in-home or daycare services in Perry Hall, Maryland. The ideal candidate will have specialized training in apraxia and experience working with non-verbal children. This role involves working with a child diagnosed with apraxia, aiming to improve their communication abilities in a comfortable and familiar environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the child’s speech, language, and communication skills.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on apraxia, tailored to the child's specific needs.
- Provide therapy sessions at the child’s home and/or daycare center, ensuring a consistent and supportive environment.
- Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and tools to enhance speech production and communication skills.
- Collaborate with family members and daycare staff to support the child's development and generalize skills across settings.
- Monitor and document the child’s progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate and empower parents and caregivers with strategies to support the child’s communication development at home.
Requirements:
- Valid state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Maryland.
- Clinical experience in pediatric speech therapy, specifically with children diagnosed with apraxia.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Ability to travel to the child’s home and daycare center in Perry Hall, Maryland.
- Current CPR certification is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field.
- Certification or additional training in apraxia therapy.
- Experience working in home and daycare settings.
- Knowge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
