Speech Pathologist
MAIN FUNCTION:
The Speech-Language Pathologist will evaluate and construct an appropriate rehabilitation plan for each individual patient. The Speech Pathologist will be available to the attending physician, other members of the Rehab Team, as well as the patient and family members. Will be responsible for patient and family education. Will administer patient care based on patient's condition, age and development. This part time position is on the Weekends.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director, Rehabilitation/Health and Wellness
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
License to practice speech therapy in Ohio.
Eligible for or completed Certificate of Clinical Competence presented by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
BLS
No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Employee in this position may be exposed to blood, body fluids and/or airborne pathogens and is required to wear barriers.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
* Completes evaluation of Speech, Language, Voice, Fluency and swallowing disorders as well as hearing screenings, in compliance with department policy and procedures.
* Displays a professional attitude in providing or seeking consultation with other members of the team responsible for patient care.
* Identifies problem areas, documenting age appropriate objective goals and treatment plans.
* Implements treatment accurately per treatment plan and Doctor order.
* Patient care is based on specific patient condition according to age and development of patient.
* Revises therapy plans when necessary following consultations with parents/patients, patient review or rate of progress.
* Is knowledgeable regarding the operation of equipment and materials utilized by the department.
* Completes patient/family education regarding progress in therapy, evaluation and treatment.
* Demonstrates use of appropriate treatment for children____ adults____ geriatrics____
* Presents reports that can be understood by recipients that are not familiar with technical language used by Speech Path.
* Participates in team meetings on appropriate patients at least once monthly.
* Communicates with other pertinent individuals involved in care and treatment of patient.
* Communicates effectively and tactfully with patient/family.
* Participates in meetings, conferences and seminars to gather knowledge regarding new developments in Speech or to further public knowledge in the Speech profession and meet necessary criteria for mandatory continuing education.
* Notifies manager of needed supplies, and equipment.
* Acts as a role model to fellow staff, students, and volunteers within the framework of accepted standards.
* Demonstrates objectivity and problem-solving ability.
