Job Description:
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is instrumental in our client's patient-centered approach. The SLP will diagnose, treat, and help prevent communication and swallowing disorders in patients, offering support in Detroit, MI and surrounding areas. They will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, emphasizing the importance of communication in overall health and well-being.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and diagnostic tests to determine speech, language, and swallowing impairments.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to patient needs, adjusting as necessary based on progress.
- Offer therapeutic sessions with the aim to improve or restore communication and swallowing abilities.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation regarding patient sessions, progress, and therapeutic outcomes.
- Collaborate with a diverse healthcare team, including doctors, nurses, and other therapists, to ensure all facets of patient care are addressed.
- Educate patients and their families on techniques and strategies to enhance communication and swallowing at home.
- Stay updated on latest techniques, methodologies, and technologies in speech therapy.
Required & Preferred Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
- At least one year of professional experience in healthcare.
- Valid driver's license, with a willingness to travel approximately 20% of the workday to patient locations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR software, tablets, and mobile phones.
- Strong organizational skills, with a commitment to meeting charting deadlines.
-Ability to self-manage schedules and tasks.
- License and certification as a Speech Therapist, issued by the state of Michigan.
