School Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Pay: $32+/Hour
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our team at a school in Blaine, MN. As an SLPA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide direct therapy services to students with speech and language disorders. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students while working within a supportive educational environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct screenings and assist in the administration of formal and informal assessments to identify speech and language disorders among students.
- Therapy Planning and Implementation: Collaborate with the supervising SLP to develop individualized therapy plans based on assessment findings and student goals. Implement therapy sessions using evidence-based practices to address speech and language goals.
- Direct Therapy Services: Provide direct therapy services to students either in a one-on-one or group setting, targeting various communication areas such as articulation, language comprehension, expressive language, fluency, and pragmatics.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and document student progress towards speech and language goals. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions, assessments, and progress reports.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective communication and collaboration with teachers, parents, and other school staff members to support student success. Attend team meetings, IEP meetings, and parent conferences as needed.
- Supportive Role: Assist the supervising SLP in implementing classroom-based strategies and accommodations to support students with speech and language needs in the academic environment.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of speech-language pathology. Stay informed about current research and best practices in speech and language therapy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related field.
- Valid SLPA license issued by the Minnesota Department of Health.
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Dedication to providing high-quality services to students with diverse needs.
