Specimen Processor (Part Time)

We are a growing Medical laboratory. Seeking Specimen Processors to work part-time. We have an opening as follows:

11 pm - 5 am, M-F AND occasional weekends as needed

Job Duties/Responsibilities

i. Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing

ii. Open specimens and pour them off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing

iii. Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted

iv. Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes

v. Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas

vi. Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples

vii. Resolve and document any problem specimens

viii. Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste

ix. Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures

x. Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary

Requirements

i. High School Diploma or equivalent

ii. At least one year of experience

iii. Medical Terminology knowledge is required

iv. Previous medical or production experience is preferred

v. Proficient computer and typing skills of 50 to 60 wpm

vi. Comfortable handling human biological specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples

vii. Ability to lift up to 35lbs

viii. Work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of time

ix. Strong eye-hand coordination to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight

x. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

xi. High level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solve

xii. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
