Families First is seeking a Direct Support Professional in the Brattleboro area. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred although not required. American Sign Language and Crisis Prevention knowledge is recommended!

The advocates in need of support have more complex medical and/or behavioral needs. Staff must be comfortable supporting the individual with activities of daily living like maintaining good hygiene, bathing, wiping, and medication administration. This individual can demonstrate aggression and may need behavioral support. Some self-advocates may be non-verbal. Please note, you must be vaccinated against Covid-19 since the advocates you will be working with are considered medically fragile.
The ideal candidate for this position will be dependable, compassionate, and patient. Reliable transportation and a valid Driver's License are required, as you may be traveling throughout Windham County. Candidates must be able to pass background checks.

Available shifts can range from 6 to 16 hours. Longer shifts are usually a partial asleep overnight. Families First will be adopting a Weekend Differential. Employees will receive an additional $2 dollars an hour in their paychecks. This differential only applies to hours between Friday 5pm to Monday 9am. This does not apply to salaried staff. The differential will be implemented on Friday March 15th, 2024.
