Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Specialist - Research Compliance & Integrity.
In this role, the Research Compliance & Integrity Specialist supports the Director, Research Compliance & Integrity to help ensure that biomedical research at NYU Langone Health (NYU Langone) is conducted in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory and contractual obligations and with NYU Langones institutional policies. The Specialist will work closely with faculty, academic departments, the Office of Science & Research, Research Finance, and the Office of General Counsel to carry out his/her duties. The Specialist will be responsible for supporting the implementation of a comprehensive and proactive Research Compliance program.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Assists the Director with the oversight, assessment, and implementation of policies and procedures in an array of Research Compliance programs, which include: federal grants and contracts, research security, IRB, IACUC, IBC, Export Control, Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight (ESCRO), Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), and Research Misconduct.  Researches periodicals, internet sites, and government publications to inform the compliance program activities related to research. Benchmarks peer practices in relevant areas.
    • Supports the development and implementation of an annual Research Compliance work plan to ensure institutional adherence with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines related to grant administration, sponsored program management, federal grants policy, foreign influence, human subjects protection and IRB oversight, clinical trials, clinical research billing, FDA rules and regulations, animal welfare and IACUC oversight, biosafety, select agents, export controls, controlled substances, conflicts of interest, research integrity and scientific misconduct, intellectual property, data management, acquisition and sharing, and data privacy/security. 
    • Assists the Director, Research Compliance and Research Integrity, to communicate with stakeholders on work plan activity, investigations, relevant topics and regulatory updates. Fosters an environment that promotes the responsible conduct of research through development and dissemination of written guidance, communications, presentations, reports, and training materials.  Develops, updates, and posts content on the Research Integrity & Compliance webpage.
    • Assists the Director, Research Compliance & Integrity to promptly and uniformly deal with allegations or evidence of noncompliance with internal policies and state and federal regulations, including Research Misconduct; obtains relevant documentation; maintains files related to investigations of research noncompliance.
    • Monitors export control review submissions and data security reports, escalates issues, compiles data, and delivers reports on activity.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's or Masters degree in science, business, healthcare administration, or related field
Minimum of two years experience working in research-related area
Strong academic background
Excellent analytical, written and oral communication,advisory, and project management skills
Demonstrated judgment and discretion
Ability to understand, apply, and communicate complicated policies to stakeholders while maintaining high level of confidentiality
Ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing responsibilities
Ability to successfully collaborate with individuals at various levels throughout NYU Langone to elicit needed information, discuss sensitive information, and develop workable solutions to comply with applicable policies to protect NYU Langone and to further its research mission
Ability to work closely with General Counsel, other members of the Office of General Counsel, and members of senior and departmental leadership at NYU Langone
Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, with multiple priorities and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree, JD or PhD
Experience with sponsored program management or grant administration
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation
A background in Research Compliance or clinical trials monitoring or auditing
A background in conducting human subject or animal research
Experience with investigative and/or forensic techniques
Knowledge of the federal research grant and contract policies and procedures, including the Uniform Guidance regulations
related matters.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 - $82,951.06 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
