Position Summary
The Deduction Specialist is responsible for ensuring claims and deductions are cleared in a timely manner while also working with sales on the front end to ensure orders go out with correct pricing. Responsible for performing all necessary work and tasks related to Non-Trade or Pricing Deductions as assigned. Team Goal to reduce Suspense YOY by 10%.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs research and resolution duties associated with deductions and credit types in a team environment. This includes identifying, researching, collecting appropriate supporting documentation, and determining the appropriate resolution in an audit compliant manner.
- Uses time management skills to code deductions, submit backup and identify new trends for assigned customers.
- Works directly with external customers, field sales and others within Hormel to resolve open items.
- Processes and approves credit resolutions using the High Radius application.
- Collaborates with team members and cross-functionally for the purpose of deduction prevention and process improvement.
- Handles identification, invoice preparation and collection of invalid deductions.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED with 1-3 years’ experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated pattern of initiative.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proven customer service experience.
- Proven ability to make independent decisions and work under minimal supervision.
Preferred:
- Associates degree in Finance, Accounting or related
- Experience with Oracle Billing and Accounts Receivable, Forge, Hormel Decision Support (HDS) and High Radius.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications with emphasis on Word and Excel.

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in a remote office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Pay Rate is $20.00/Hr.
